Africanized "Killer Bees" as well as European honey bees will capitalize on building defects and voids to create a honey producing hive. Roof lines, wall voids, gaps around pipes and duct work, electrical boxes, HVAC units and signage, all provide perfect harborage for bees.
The liability of bees on a property is obvious, however the unseen liability of comb and honey are often over looked. Once the bees are removed the honey quickly sags and begins to seep into the wall voids of the structure, causing wood rot and decay, food for rodents and insects, complicating structural and pest control issues for some time to come.
